Transfer to Texas Tech Health El Paso
Texas Tech Health El Paso welcomes students seeking to transfer into our bachelor’s degree programs. This page is designed for prospective and current transfer students interested in the Accelerated B.S.N. and R.N. to B.S.N. programs. It brings together pathway information, prerequisite coursework, transfer credit guidance, support contacts, and the transfer credit dispute process required under Texas law. State guidance now requires institutions to publicly post transfer liaison information, minimum transfer requirements, clear program requirements, and dispute information for denied transfer credit.

Transfer Credit Evaluation
Texas Tech Health El Paso evaluates transfer credit under HSCEP OP 77.17. Under that policy, transfer coursework must generally correspond with current Texas Tech Health El Paso courses required in the student's program of study, and domestic transfer credit is generally accepted from regionally accredited institutions. The policy also states that the minimum grade requirements for transfer are established by the respective school and made available on the website and in the academic catalog, and that students may be asked to provide supporting documentation such as syllabi, catalogs, and course descriptions during transcript review.
Transfer Credit Dispute Resolution
For assistance with a transfer credit question or dispute, students should begin by contacting the transfer liaison:

Flexible Options for Completing Prerequisites
Second-degree students, nontraditional students, and students who are not currently enrolled at a college or university may need a more flexible way to complete prerequisite coursework before applying. For students in that situation, the following self-paced and credit-by-exam options may be helpful. Portage Learning is the primary recommendation for this page. Before enrolling in any outside course or exam option, students should compare it carefully with the Texas Tech Health El Paso prerequisites they need and contact the transfer liaison or School of Nursing adviser with any questions. Texas Tech Health El Paso awards transfer credit under HSCEP OP 77.17, and CLEP credit must appear on an official college transcript to be accepted.
Portage Learning
Portage Learning describes its courses as 100% online and self-directed. Portage states that students receive college credit through Geneva College or Bushnell University, and its transcript pages explain that official credit and transcripts are issued through those partner institutions. Portage also notes that students have successfully sent transcripts to more than 2,800 schools, colleges, and universities.
West Texas A&M University Self-Paced Courses
WTAMU states that its self-paced courses allow students to register anytime, begin once the enrollment email is received, and take as little as one month or up to six months to complete a course for university credit. WTAMU also states that these education on demand courses are equivalent to those taught on campus and count toward student degree plans.
Texas Tech University Self-Paced Courses
Texas Tech University states that its self-paced courses are open enrollment, available 24/7/365, and not tied to traditional semesters. TTU also states that students have up to six months to complete the coursework, though they may finish faster. The current TTU self-paced course site also notes that this option is not available to actively enrolled TTU students at this time.
Modern States
Modern States states that it offers free online courses taught by professors from world-class universities that cover freshman-level college content. Modern States also states that learners who complete its courses can take CLEP exams for free. This may be a useful option for students who want to prepare for credit by examination instead of taking a full course.
DANTES for Military-Affiliated Students
Military-affiliated students may also be interested in DANTES-funded exam options. DANTES states that eligible service members may use DANTES-funded CLEP and DSST exams, that one attempt per exam title is funded for eligible examinees, and that scores may appear on military transcript systems such as the Joint Services Transcript. DANTES also notes that institutional acceptance of exam credit remains subject to each college's policies.
