Department of Surgery Research

Our research program is designed to help residents develop the skills needed to critically evaluate medical literature. This involves discipline, a consistent reading schedule, and exposure to areas not traditionally covered in medical school.

Goals

• Engage in clinical trials across all subspecialty areas within the department.

• Provide structured research education for faculty and residents.

• Increase the number of scholarly publications.

• Expect residents to develop and/or actively participate in research studies.

• Expect residents to author or co-author at least one publication.
