Center for Advanced Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Simulation - ATACS
The Center for Advanced Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Simulation (ATACS) is an integral component of Paul L. Foster School of Medicine,the only medical school in Texas that has an accredited clinical simulation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare(SSH). The ATACS Center was awarded accreditation by demonstrating compliance with Core Standards and fulfillment of standards applied to Assessment, Research and Teaching/Education. The ATACS Center will use state-of-the-art equipment, innovative learning methods and expertise in clinical simulation for the delivery of a highly integrated and clinical-oriented curriculum of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. In addition, this Center will provide excellent opportunities for learners to develop, maintain and update essential core competencies of medical skills at all learning stages. These learners will treasure the newly acquired clinical ability and the much-enhanced confidence in making critical medical decisions.
MISSION. To serve the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine educational mission, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the local and regional healthcare communities by providing facilities and expertise in simulation-based healthcare provider education, by training the faculty and learners at all levels in using state-of-the-art educational tools to assess and enhance their clinical skills, and by stimulating the research in medical education and clinical simulation.
VISION. The Center for Advanced Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Simulation - ATACS - will improve the quality of learning, teaching, and practicing medicine through innovative simulation-based medical education.
